A 90-hour private pilot lost control of a helicopter after encountering dynamic rollover while attempting to bring the aircraft to a hover. The incident occurred when the forward portion of the right landing gear skid became entangled in soft and wet ground.

The pilot, who held a private pilot certificate, was able to egress the helicopter unassisted following the accident. There was no fire.

An FAA inspector who responded to the accident site confirmed that the helicopter came to rest on its right side. The accident resulted in structural damage to the airframe and the tailboom.
