Landing Incident
The pilot executed a three-point landing when the right main wheel locked, causing the airplane to veer suddenly to the right. As a result, the left wing lifted upward, then came back down forcefully. The aircraft began to hop on the left main landing gear, which subsequently collapsed. The left wing and elevator contacted the runway surface, leading to substantial damage to the left wing and fuselage.
Mechanical Examination
Post-incident examination of the airplane revealed no mechanical anomalies with either the airframe or the engine.
Pilot's History
The pilot had been involved in a previous accident four months prior, which he did not report to the National Transportation Safety Board. That accident also involved the collapse of the left main landing gear during landing.
