Incident Overview
The airplane sustained substantial damage during a gear-up landing that followed a loss of hydraulic system fluid. The pilot reported that during the landing approach, the landing gear did not extend when he attempted to lower it. He then used the emergency pump system, which resulted in only a partial extension of the main landing gear. The flaps also failed to extend. After reviewing the checklist, the pilot performed a gear-up landing procedure.
Landing Gear Extension
The pilot was able to extend the nose landing gear into the locked position. However, the main landing gear remained only partially extended. The airplane landed with the main gear in this condition, resulting in damage to the horizontal stabilizer.
Post-Accident Examination
A post-accident examination of the airplane revealed that the hydraulic power pack, part number 1280500-2, was leaking hydraulic fluid. This leakage was the source of the hydraulic system fluid loss that led to the landing gear and flap extension difficulties.
