Incident Overview
On December 12, 2007, at 0826 eastern standard time, a Bombardier BD-700-1A11 (Global 5000), registration N50DS, was landing at Vance W. Amory Airport (TKPN) in Charlestown, St. Kitts and Nevis. The flight had originated from Saint John's, Antigua Island, and was conducted under 14 CFR Part 91 as a personal flight with an instrument flight rules flight plan. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time.
Sequence of Events
According to the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA), the airplane was on approach to runway 10, an asphalt runway measuring 13,110 feet long and 321 feet wide. While on short final approach, the airplane struck approach lights and a fence approximately 56 feet before the runway threshold. The airplane then landed on runway 10 without further incident and taxied to the parking area without assistance.
Damage and Injuries
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the rear fuselage, right flap, and right main landing gear. The two certificated airline transport pilots and two passengers were not injured.

The reported weather at TKPN at 0900 included wind from 090 degrees at 15 knots, visibility 10 miles, scattered clouds at 2,100 feet, temperature 28°C, dew point 22°C, and altimeter setting 29.97 inches of mercury.
Mechanical Status
The flight crew did not report any pre-impact mechanical malfunctions with the airplane.
