Accident Overview
On December 26, 2007, at approximately 1245 Atlantic standard time, a Cessna 210, registration N761YL, collided with terrain during the approach to Metropoltano Airport in Ocumare Del Tuy, Venezuela. The flight had originated from Aerodromo Guanare in Portuguesa, Venezuela, about 1120 earlier that day. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan information was known.
Injuries and Damage
The pilot received minor injuries, and the aircraft incurred substantial damage.
Sequence of Events
According to information released by the Venezuelan government, the pilot declared a loss of engine power during the final approach. The aircraft subsequently impacted the ground approximately 300 meters short of Runway 8.
Investigation
The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Venezuela. The Junta Investigadora de Accidentes de Aviación of the Ministerio de Infraestructura is responsible for the inquiry.
