Accident Overview
A pilot of an amateur-built experimental airplane reported that a preflight inspection and engine run-up were conducted, with the airplane operating normally. After takeoff, the airplane climbed to an altitude of 200 to 300 feet at an airspeed of 90 knots when the engine lost power. The pilot performed a forced landing onto the airport property. The landing was hard, causing the main landing gear to collapse.
