What happened
On January 11, 2008, at approximately 1500 central standard time, a Bell 412HP helicopter, registration XC-JCD, departed from an elevated soccer field located near the police station at Tepango de Rodriguez. The flight was intended to be a 70-mile trip to Puebla, Mexico. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft struck the side of a hill approximately one-half mile from the departure point. There were 2 flight crew members and 6 passengers on board. All 8 people were fatally injured due to the impact and a post-impact fire.
The flight was conducted under visual meteorological conditions (VMC).
