Incident Details
During cruise flight at an altitude of 3,500 feet above ground level (agl), a bird impacted the leading edge of the right wing, inboard of the wing lift strut attach point. The certified flight instructor (CFI) stated that he did not see the bird until just before it struck the wing.
Damage Assessment
After the impact, the CFI evaluated the condition of the aircraft in-flight and determined it was safe to continue. An examination of the right wing after landing revealed that the leading edge was crushed aft and two internal wing ribs were damaged.
Outcome
The flight proceeded to its intended destination without further incident, and the aircraft landed without any additional issues.
