Incident
On February 13, 2008, at 1358 UTC, a Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737-500, registration UR-GAU, touched down at Helsinki-Vantaa aerodrome in Finland. During the landing, the aircraft's right wingtip made contact with the runway surface. The airplane carried seven crew members and 32 passengers; no injuries occurred. Damage was limited to the right wingtip, the leading edge slat, and the outboard flap actuator housing.
Investigation
The initial on-site investigation was conducted by AIB Finland. Finland subsequently delegated the investigation of the incident to the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine. The US National Transportation Safety Board appointed a non-traveling US accredited representative to the investigation.
