What happened
On April 8, 2008, a Piper J3CC-65, registration N3228N, was performing a series of five or six touch-and-go landings. During the final takeoff attempt, the aircraft reached approximately 50 feet above ground level before it began to sink. The aircraft subsequently landed off the field, traveling straight ahead into brush. During the landing roll, the right wing tip struck a tree, resulting in substantial damage. The pilot reported that winds were calm at the time of the event, and weather conditions were characterized by visual meteorological conditions (VMC) with 20 miles of visibility.
There were no injuries resulting from this accident.
