What happened
On May 2, 2008, at approximately 0710 UTC, a chartered Beech 1900C, registration 5Y-FLE, crashed near Rumbek, South Sudan. The flight, operated by Flex Air Cargo Unlimited of Nairobi, Kenya, had departed from Wau, South Sudan, and was en route to Juba, South Sudan, with a scheduled stop in Rumbek.
During the flight, the aircraft experienced a loss of power in both engines. The subsequent impact resulted in the destruction of the airplane and a post-crash fire. There were 20 fatal injuries, involving the two crew members and 18 passengers.
