What happened
On May 4, 2008, at approximately 16:40 local time, a Bell 407, registration CC-PHI, was on approach to Vitacura Airport (SCLC) in Santiago, Chile. The flight had originated from Costa del Sol Airport (SCSO) in Lago Rapel. During the approach, the aircraft struck a highway light pole, resulting in substantial damage to the helicopter.
The accident resulted in four serious injuries, involving the pilot and three passengers. At the time of the accident, weather conditions were within visual meteorological conditions (VMC).
