Incident Overview
On May 10, 2008, a Fairchild Metro 23 aircraft, operated by Amaszonas, experienced an uncontained failure of the No. 2 engine's stage 1 turbine disk during the start-to-taxi sequence at La Paz, Bolivia. The uncontained failure resulted in parts of the disk impacting and damaging the engine cowling, engine strut support, oil pipes, and electrical systems. No injuries were reported.
