During a solo flight practicing touch-and-go landings, a student pilot experienced multiple propeller strikes after landing, ballooning, and loss of control. No mechanical failures were reported.

Incident Overview

During a solo flight, a student pilot was practicing touch-and-go landings. After a successful first touch-and-go, he initiated a second approach. He selected a speed of 65 knots, extended flaps to 30 degrees, and followed the glide path.

Landing and Ballooning

Upon touchdown, the airplane ballooned upward. The student pilot applied slight forward pressure on the control yoke. This caused the propeller to strike the ground. The airplane rebounded into the air. The pilot then found that he could not move the yoke rearward, and the propeller struck the ground a second time. Subsequently, control of the airplane was lost as the propeller struck the ground several more times.

Stopping and Post-Event

The student pilot applied heavy braking, and the airplane skidded to the side of the runway before coming to a stop. The pilot stated that there were no mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane during the flight.
