Incident Details
The pilot reported that upon approaching the airport, he obtained the landing weather conditions from the local Automated Weather Observing System. The winds were reported as 290 degrees at 9 knots. The pilot entered the traffic pattern for runway 21 and executed two low approaches before making a three-point full stop landing.
During the landing rollout, the pilot lost directional control, and the airplane ground looped to the right. As a result of the ground loop, the left main landing gear was bent inward. Additionally, the outer approximate 3.5 feet of the left wing and aileron were bent up approximately 30 degrees. The left elevator was scrapped and wrinkled.
Aircraft Damage
The damage was limited to the left side of the aircraft: the left main landing gear was bent inward; the outer section of the left wing and aileron sustained upward bending; and the left elevator showed scraping and wrinkling.
