Accident Details
The pilot of a tailwheel-equipped airplane reported that during the landing roll, the left main landing gear began to shake violently and a pronounced wobble was observed in the left wheel. The airplane then started to swerve to the right. Despite efforts to correct the swerve, the pilot was unable to regain control, and the left main landing gear subsequently collapsed. The left wing sustained substantial damage as a result.
Environmental Conditions
The pilot reported calm winds at the time of the accident, indicating that weather was not a contributing factor to the event.
Post-Accident Inspection
Following the accident, an inspection of the landing gear was conducted. However, the inspection did not determine whether a mechanical failure or malfunction had occurred. The cause of the violent shaking and subsequent collapse remains unidentified.
