Accident Details
A private pilot was ferrying friends to a lakeside lodge in his float-equipped airplane, operating under Title 14, CFR Part 91. According to the pilot, he landed too close to the beach and was unable to stop the aircraft before it impacted the beach. The airplane traveled approximately 20 to 30 feet up the beach. The left float structure collapsed during the impact. Subsequently, the left wing and left horizontal stabilizer struck the ground, causing damage to both components.
