Incident Overview
On September 25, 2008, at 1012 local time, a Bell 206L3 helicopter, registered in Papua New Guinea as P2-HBC, crashed in a remote area near Douglas Camp, Papua New Guinea. The helicopter was operated by Heli Niugini under the pertinent provisions of the Papua New Guinea civil aviation regulations. At the time of the accident, the helicopter was reportedly performing long line operations. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unknown.
Damage and Casualties
The helicopter sustained substantial damage. The pilot, who was the sole occupant, was killed.
