Incident Details
According to interviews conducted by a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) inspector, the pilot and passengers reported that during the landing roll on runway 17R, a gust of wind pushed the airplane off the runway and into a ditch. The FAA inspector examined the airplane and found structural damage to the right wing and firewall.
Wind Conditions
Winds reported approximately half an hour before the incident were from 220 degrees at 26 knots, with gusts to 31 knots.
Mechanical Examination
During the examination of the airplane, the FAA inspector found no preimpact mechanical malfunctions or failures.
