What happened

On November 3, 2008, at approximately 1800 Pacific Standard Time, a Beechcraft BE200 aircraft, registration N200JL, was involved in a fatal accident near Punta Chivato, Baja California Sur, Mexico. The flight was in the departure phase, originating from the Punta Chivato Airstrip.

Following takeoff, the aircraft was observed passing just above a small hill. During the climb, the aircraft appeared to lose airspeed and a reduction in climb rate was noted. The aircraft subsequently entered a stall and impacted the ground. A post-crash fire occurred, which destroyed the majority of the airplane. The pilot, who was the sole occupant, sustained 1 fatal injury.
