Incident Description
The landing began with an uneventful initial touchdown and landing roll. The pilot applied light pressure on the brakes and perceived initial deceleration. He then sensed that the left brake had grabbed. At the same instant, the right wing rose off the ground, rendering the right brake ineffective. The airplane swerved sharply to the left.
Sequence of Events
The pilot applied right rudder and right brake as the right wing settled back to the ground. Despite these inputs, the airplane departed the runway surface. Subsequently, the left wing collided with a taxiway sign, sustaining substantial damage. The impact turned the airplane into the grass median. After the incident, the pilot taxied the airplane uneventfully to parking.
