Accident
On April 8, 2009, at approximately 0800 Pacific Daylight Time, a Eurocopter single-engine helicopter crashed in mountainous terrain after departing from Culiacan International Airport in Sinaloa, Mexico. The intended mission was to take aerial photographs.
Wreckage Location
Several hours after the crash, the helicopter wreckage was located near the town of Cubiri, close to the highest mountain in the area. The helicopter was destroyed in the accident.
Casualties
The pilot and two passengers were killed in the crash.
Investigation
The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Mexico. The helicopter engine was secured and sent to the Turbomeca Engines facility in Grand Prairie, Texas, for further examination.
