Incident Overview
On June 15, 2009, a Boeing 757-200, registration TF-FIA, was preparing for departure from Keflavík International Airport in Reykjanesbaer, Iceland. Prior to takeoff, heat and smoke were observed emanating from the audio jacks of the in-flight entertainment system located in two passenger armrests.
Response and Continuation
Crew members shut down power to the entertainment system in the affected seats. The flight subsequently departed and proceeded to its intended destination, Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, without further incident.
Investigation
The incident is under investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Board of Iceland. No further information regarding the cause or findings has been released by the authority at the time of this report.
