Sequence of Events
The accident occurred during a dual instructional training flight. The pre-solo student pilot was performing the landing and bounced the airplane upon touchdown. The certified flight instructor (CFI) immediately called for a go-around. The student pilot added full power as directed, but subsequently stalled the airplane, causing it to bounce again.
Instructor Intervention
When the second bounce occurred, the CFI took control of the aircraft and proceeded with the go-around. However, the airplane failed to accelerate as expected. It began to drift slowly to the right of the runway centerline, eventually exiting the paved surface and entering the adjacent grass area.
Damage and Injuries
The airplane sustained substantial damage as a result of the off-runway excursion. Both occupants—the pre-solo student pilot and the CFI—were not injured. No mechanical issues or flight control anomalies were reported or found prior to the accident.
