Incident Overview
According to the pilot's report, during the landing flare the airplane unexpectedly pulled to the left. The pilot responded by adding power and moving the control stick to the right, but these actions did not correct the deviation. The airplane subsequently entered an inadvertent stall.
Landing Sequence
The airplane descended from a height of about three feet and contacted the ground with the left wing and nose low. The light sport airplane was not equipped with a stall warning horn.
Stall Characteristics
The airplane's flight training supplement describes stall behavior: "The stall is noted through light buffeting. At 2 kts. (3 mph) above the stall speed, the rudder becomes 'soft'. When flying close to stall speed, only the rudder and elevator are fully controllable. The ailerons have less effectiveness in very slow flight."
