Incident Overview
A pilot was conducting a landing in left closed traffic. After completing the before landing check, the pilot extended the flaps to 10 degrees. The airplane was turned onto base and final legs, and the flaps were lowered to the full down position. A right crosswind was present during the approach.
Sequence of Events
The pilot initiated a flare approximately 30 feet above the runway numbers and subsequently touched down on the runway. Immediately after touchdown, the airplane began to veer to the left. The pilot reported losing directional control of the airplane.
The airplane departed the left side of the runway, where it struck a runway light. It continued into the grass area and eventually collided with an embankment. The collision resulted in structural damage to the airframe.
Pilot Statement
The pilot stated that there were no mechanical problems with the airplane prior to or during the incident.
