2009 Bombardier DHC-8-402 electrical power loss at London Gatwick

Incident Overview On 12/21/2009, a Bombardier DHC-8-402 with registration G-JEDI experienced a loss of AC electrical power while departing London Gatwick Airport. The flight crew returned to London Gatwick Airport and completed an uneventful landing. ## Maintenance Findings Following the incident, maintenance work identified heat damage to a wiring loom located in the left center wing area. In addition, the left generator drive shaft was found to be sheared. ## Investigation The incident is being investigated by the United Kingdom Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB).
