Accident Details
A solo private pilot was conducting a personal local flight under 14 CFR Part 91. During the takeoff roll, the pilot perceived a gust of wind pushing the airplane toward the left side of the runway. In response, the pilot applied right rudder to correct the deviation. However, the airplane began to turn to the right, and the pilot was unable to regain control.
Pilot Statement
According to the pilot, the airplane subsequently ground-looped to the right. During the ground loop, the left wing struck the ground. The pilot stated that there were no mechanical issues with the airplane prior to the accident. The flight was intended for personal purposes only.
Damage
The ground loop resulted in structural damage to the left wing. No other damage was reported. The accident occurred during the takeoff phase of flight, and the airplane remained on the airport property.
