2010 JetProp DLX Piper PA-46-350P Accident Near New Albany, Indiana (N135CC)

Accident Overview and Flight History On May 2, 2010, at approximately 2016 EDT, a JetProp DLX Piper PA-46-350P, registration N135CC, sustained substantial damage upon impact with terrain near New Albany, Indiana. The private pilot and one passenger were fatally injured. The aircraft was operating under 14 CFR Part 91 on an instrument flight rules (IFR) flight plan, departing from Barkley Regional Airport (PAH) in Paducah, Kentucky, at 1836 CDT and en route to Bowman Field Airport (LOU) in Louisville, Kentucky. Instrument meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. Prior to departure, a fixed-base operator at PAH noted the aircraft appeared to be in good condition and requested 40 gallons of fuel per side. The pilot filed an IFR flight plan with an estimated en route time of 45 minutes, designating Louisville International Airport-Standiford Field (SDF) as the alternate.
