Accident Details
A pilot practicing touch-and-go landings in a tailwheel airplane reported that during the seventh landing, the wind velocity increased and a crosswind developed. As the airplane touched down on runway 27, it veered to the left and departed the grass runway. The pilot reduced engine power and attempted to regain control, but the left wing impacted a tree. The impact caused substantial damage to the fuselage and left wing.

The pilot stated that there were no mechanical malfunctions or failures of the airplane. The event occurred while the pilot was conducting a routine training exercise.

A weather observation taken near the time of the accident, at a station 15 miles from the accident site, recorded the wind as 190 degrees at 14 knots.
