Accident Overview
A pilot flying a tailwheel-equipped airplane performed two uneventful wheel landings before attempting a three-point landing. During the touchdown, the pilot stated he was "carrying too much speed" and subsequently "lost control" of the airplane. The aircraft exited the right side of the runway and entered a ground loop.
Damage and Sequence
As the airplane ground looped, the left wing struck the ground, resulting in substantial damage. The pilot reported no mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airframe or engine prior to the accident.
