What happened
On August 31, 2010, at approximately 0630 UTC, a Cessna 550, registration PA-TAA, was involved in an accident at Misima Airport (MIS) in Bugoiya, Papua New Guinea. The aircraft, operated by Trans Air PNG, had departed from Port Moresby Airport at approximately 0500 UTC.
Upon landing at Misima Airport, the aircraft overran the runway, resulting in substantial damage to the airframe. A fire occurred following the overrun. The accident resulted in 4 fatalities, including the airline transport pilot and three passengers, while the copilot sustained 1 minor injury.
