What happened
On September 30, 2010, at approximately 0844 local time, a Robinson R44 II, bearing registration PR-CCO, crashed in rugged terrain near Davinopolis, Maranhao, Brazil. The helicopter was operating a non-commercial flight from Prefeito Renato Mereira/Imperatriz Airport (SBIZ) to Davinopolis Airport (SIME).
During the landing phase, the main rotor of the aircraft made contact with the ground. This impact triggered a fire that resulted in the total destruction of the helicopter. The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, sustained 1 fatal injury.
