Accident Details
On January 7, 2011, at 2045 universal coordinated time, a Partenavia P68C aircraft, bearing Venezuelan registration YV1303, was destroyed when it struck terrain during the en route phase of its flight near Cojedes, Venezuela. The flight, operating under Venezuelan regulations, had departed from General Santiago Marino Caribbean International Airport (SVMG) in Nueva Esparta, Venezuela.
The aircraft was carrying six occupants: the pilot and four passengers sustained fatal injuries, while one passenger suffered serious injuries.
Investigation
The investigation into the accident is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Venezuela. The Junta Investigadora de Accidentes de Aviación, part of the Ministerio del Poder Popular para las Obras Publicas y Vivienda, is responsible for the inquiry.
