Accident Details
A student pilot was conducting their first solo cross-country flight in a tailwheel-equipped airplane. Upon landing on runway 17 at the destination airport, the aircraft swerved to the left. The student pilot attempted to regain directional control but was unsuccessful. The airplane subsequently departed the side of the runway and nosed over, coming to rest inverted.
Damage Assessment
The accident caused structural damage to the right wing and right wing struts. No other damage was reported.
Environmental Conditions
At the time of the mishap, wind was reported from 020 degrees at 6 knots, creating a crosswind component for the landing.
Pilot Report
The student pilot stated that there were no pre-impact mechanical malfunctions or failures that would have precluded normal operation.
Investigation
The investigation focused on the loss of directional control during landing. No probable cause was determined based on available information.
