What happened
On April 11, 2011, at approximately 1350 UTC, a Bell 206B-III helicopter, registration 9M-AXH, was involved in a terrain collision near Sibu, Malaysia. The aircraft, operated by Sabah Air Aviation, was in the takeoff phase of flight when the accident occurred. The impact resulted in 1 fatality for the pilot and caused substantial damage to the helicopter. At the time of the accident, weather conditions were reported as Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC).
