What happened
On July 21, 2011, at approximately 1005 UTC, a Boeing B737-800, registration G-GDFC, conducted an emergency landing at Palma de Mallorca Airport, Spain. The aircraft was operating a scheduled flight from Ibiza Airport (LEIB) to Manchester Airport (EGCC).
Shortly after takeoff from Ibiza, the crew reported a fire in the number two engine. The aircraft subsequently diverted to Palma de Mallorca to address the emergency. There were no injuries resulting from the incident.
