Incident Overview
A pilot reported that during departure from a remote gravel bar, a "clunk" was heard just after takeoff. While en route to the destination airport, the pilot observed that the right main landing gear assembly had partially separated from the airplane.
Landing and Damage
During the subsequent landing roll, the right main landing gear collapsed, causing the right wing to strike the ground. The airplane sustained substantial damage as a result of the wing-ground contact.
Postaccident Inspection
A postaccident inspection conducted by the pilot revealed a separated oleo shock absorber strut. The pilot noted that aside from the separated main landing gear oleo strut, there were no preaccident mechanical anomalies with the airplane.
