Accident Overview
On August 17, 2011, at approximately 1930 Universal Coordinated Time (UTC), a Cessna 152 aircraft, bearing Columbian registration HK2597G, was destroyed following a collision with terrain in Finca Arrayanes, Colombia. The aircraft was operated by Academia de Pilotos de Aviacion.
Flight Crew and Circumstances
The flight instructor and a student pilot were onboard; both sustained fatal injuries. The aircraft had departed Aeropuerto El Guaymaral (SKGY) in Chia, Colombia, approximately 20 minutes prior to the accident. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the flight.
