Incident Details
A certified flight instructor (CFI) and his student were conducting landing practice in a tailwheel-configured airplane to prepare the student for their first solo flight. On the fourth landing, the student inadvertently applied the brakes during the landing roll. This action caused the airplane to nose over.
Damage Assessment
The nose-over resulted in substantial damage to the fuselage and tail of the aircraft. No other damage was reported.
Mechanical Status
The CFI stated that the airplane and engine experienced no mechanical failures or malfunctions during the flight. The incident was attributed solely to the student's brake application.
Pilot Experience
The student was practicing landings under the supervision of the CFI when the unintended brake application occurred. The CFI was present throughout the flight and provided the account of the events.
