Accident
On September 16, 2011, an Embraer EMB-190 operated by an Ecuadoran airline overran runway 35 while landing at Quito, Ecuador. The aircraft came to a stop beyond the runway end, sustaining substantial damage.

Investigation
The investigation is being conducted by the Ecuador Junta Investigadora de Accidentes (JIA). The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist in the investigation under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, as the United States is the State of the manufacturer of the engines. All investigation findings will be released by the JIA.
