Accident Sequence
The private pilot of a tailwheel-equipped airplane was on the last approach after performing a series of touch-and-go landings. When the main wheels touched the runway, the airplane bounced. It then veered to the left. The pilot applied rudder and aileron control inputs, but the airplane continued pulling left. As it approached the runway edge, the pilot applied the brakes, causing the airplane to depart the runway and nose over.
Pilot and Environmental Factors
The pilot reported no preimpact mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airframe or engine that would have prevented normal operation. She stated that the accident could have been avoided if she had reacted sooner to the divergence and applied full aft elevator control during the roll. Winds at the time were calm.
Damage
The airplane sustained substantial damage to both wings and the aft fuselage structure during the accident sequence.
