Student Pilot Nose Over During Touch-and-Go Landing

Accident Summary

A student pilot was practicing normal touch-and-go landings. During the third landing, the pilot did not pitch the nose up sufficiently. The airplane began to porpoise and wheelbarrow on the nose wheel. The student pilot attempted to steer the airplane back toward the runway centerline but was unsuccessful. The airplane departed the left side of the runway, and as it left the pavement, it struck a snow berm. The airplane then nosed over onto its back.

Aircraft Damage

The airplane sustained substantial damage. Both wings and the vertical stabilizer were damaged in the accident.

The pilot reported that there were no pre-impact mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane.
