What happened
On February 21, 2012, at approximately 1400 CST, a Bell 407 helicopter, registration XA-JMB, was performing a local flight departing from Veracruz, Mexico. During the flight, the aircraft experienced a loss of engine power, which resulted in the helicopter impacting terrain near Loma Bonita, Veracruz, Mexico.
The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, sustained one serious injury. There were no fatalities. The aircraft, operated by Heliservicio Campeche S.A. de C.V., sustained substantial damage. At the time of the accident, visual meteorological conditions (VMC) were in effect.
