Accident Overview
On February 25, 2012, at approximately 1130 central standard time, a Cessna T210N, registration N6YY, collided with high tension wires and subsequently impacted terrain near Torreon International Airport (MMTC) in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. The commercial pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, sustained fatal injuries. A post-impact fire consumed the airplane, which was destroyed.
Flight Details
The airplane was owned by a private individual and operated as a private, non-commercial flight. Visual meteorological conditions were present at the time of the accident. The flight had originated from J. Agustin Castro Airport (MM16) in Lerdo, Durango, Mexico, and was destined for Torreon International Airport.
Investigation
The investigation of this accident is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Mexico. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) designated a U.S. Accredited Representative under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, as the state of registry and the state of manufacture of the aircraft and engine.
