What happened
On March 9, 2012, a Cessna U206G, registration N756CL, was attempting to take off from a frozen, snow-covered pond in Naknek, Alaska. The pond surface had recently been plowed. During the takeoff roll, the aircraft's left main landing gear struck a snow berm, causing the airplane to turn abruptly to the left. This maneuver resulted in the right wing contacting the terrain, causing substantial damage to the wing.
There were no injuries resulting from the accident. The weather at the time was visual meteorological conditions (VMC) with a visibility of 10 statute miles and winds from 190 degrees at 6 knots.
