Sequence of Events

During the landing roll of a touch-and-go landing, the student pilot allowed the airplane to veer slightly to one side. In attempting to realign the airplane with the runway, he overcorrected. To compensate, he overcorrected in the opposite direction, leading to a series of overcorrections. This resulted in a loss of directional control, causing the airplane to depart the side of the runway.

Post-Departure Maneuver

After departing the runway, the airplane made an abrupt turn of approximately 90 degrees. The left main landing gear then collapsed, and the left wing impacted the terrain. The impact caused structural damage to the wing.
