What happened
On June 6, 2012, at approximately 2300 UTC, a Fairchild SA227 cargo aircraft, registration CX-LAS, departed from Carrasco/General Cesáreo L. Berisso International Airport in Montevideo, Uruguay. Shortly after takeoff during the initial climb phase, radar contact with the aircraft was lost. The aircraft subsequently crashed into the Rio de la Plata. The wreckage was not located until July 20, 2012.
There were 2 fatal injuries involving the two crew members, and the aircraft was destroyed.
