On October 10, 2012, at 1630 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), a Sikorsky S-61 helicopter with Brazilian registration PR-HRU experienced a loss of power in its number one engine while on final approach to Carauari Airport, Carauari Municipality, Brazil. The aircraft was operated by HRT. The two pilots on board were not injured.

Sequence of Events

According to information released by the government of Brazil, the helicopter was on final approach for landing when the number one engine suffered a loss of power. The engine temperature began to increase. The pilots performed an emergency shutdown of the affected engine and then executed a single-engine landing. The helicopter landed without further incident.
