What happened
On October 10, 2012, at 16:30 UTC, a Sikorsky S-61, registered as PR-HRU, was performing a flight operated by HRT. While the aircraft was on final approach to Carauari Airport in the Carauari Municipality, Brazil, the number one engine suffered a loss of power.
As the engine temperature began to rise, the two pilots on board executed an emergency shutdown of the engine. The crew subsequently performed a single-engine landing at the airport. There were no injuries resulting from the event.
The investigation
The investigation into the incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Brazilian government through the Aeronautical Accident Prevention and Investigation Center.
