Accident Details
According to the pilot, the accident occurred during a landing attempt at a private airstrip. As the pilot flared the airplane for landing, it impacted the runway and bounced. After the bounce, the airplane continued to float down to the runway, but upon touching down again, it struck a divot and bounced off the runway surface. The airplane then continued for approximately 200 feet before the pilot realized he was about 400 feet from the end of the runway.
In response, the pilot applied takeoff power to initiate a go-around. However, during the initial climb, the propeller made contact with a fence, and the airplane nosed over. The accident resulted in substantial damage to the wings and empennage.
Pilot Report
The pilot reported no pre-impact mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
